Maurice Rogers: Trombone
Maurice has played the trombone for "many years, beginning in the late '30's."
Maurice's higher education includes Great Lakes Bible Institute, USAFI, Olivet Nazarene University, University of Illinois at Urbana and the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He has earned an MS in music education and worked on a doctorate in the same field. He earned an Administrative Certificate from the University of Illinois.
Prior to joining the Air Force in 1950, Maurice played with the Clinton Symphony and performed with the Ashland, Kentucky Symphony in the late '40's and '50's. In the Air Force, he served as chapel organist for four years.
Maurice has performed with many ensembles over the years including the Rogers Brothers Quartet, a gospel instrumental and vocal group. He also directed the Great Riverbend Concert Band (Clinton), the Union Band of Clinton, a woodwind quintet at Clinton Community College, etc. In addition, he directed and arranged the orchestral parts for the Witness, a local musical passion play.
He is a past member of Illinois, Iowa and National Band Associations.
Maurice states, "It has been an enjoyable career with highlights following highlights."
At present, Maurice is retired from public school music, and he is adjunct professor at Clinton Community College.
